This year, we are asking participants to address these questions:

The essay should be up to 2500 words in length, and essays completed as part of university course-work are eligible.
Entry eligibility and prizes shall be decided at the sole discretion of the panel. The panel may decide not to award a prize in any year.
In addition to the $2,000 prize, the winner will be invited to the next CLPINZ annual conference, to be held in July 2026, and offered the opportunity to have their winning entry published in the proceedings of the CLPINZ conference. The winner will be recognised at the CLPINZ conference and the panel may invite the winner to present their essay at the conference. Reasonable domestic travel costs may be met, at the panel’s discretion.
The panel, at its discretion, may also invite the author of the runner-up to the next CLPINZ annual conference and offer the opportunity to have their winning entry published in the proceedings of the CLPINZ conference.
